One of the great things about first moving into a rental home is that everything is so clean. A quality landlord will make it a priority to thoroughly clean every room of the home, from the kitchen to the bathrooms, before move-in day. However, time and daily use mean that even bathrooms that are cleaned regularly will need a good deep cleaning. To keep your Trophy Club rental home’s bathrooms sanitary and in good shape, you’ll have to complete a few deep cleaning tasks every few months. This will help keep your bathrooms sparkling clean.
The possible areas that will need deep cleaning the most are your tub, shower, and showerhead. All of these will have to be deep cleaned regularly to remove residue buildup and water spots. A good and simple way to clean any bathroom surface is by mixing a few drops of white vinegar with a cup of baking soda to make a paste. Spread the mixture over the tub or shower door and let it sit for an hour. This gives time for the mixture to do the work. After an hour, wipe and rinse clean. For shower walls, try spraying them with an all-purpose cleaner and then have the hot water run until the shower fills with steam. Close the shower door and let the cleaner sit for about twenty minutes, then wipe down with a wet sponge or cloth.
Vinegar works great on sinks and showerheads, too. To clean a sink with vinegar, just pour out a little amount, scrub, and flush with hot water. To clean a showerhead with white vinegar, fill a bag with it and then place the bag over the showerhead so that the entire fixture is soaking in the vinegar. Secure it in place with a rubber band or twist-tie and let sit overnight, giving the vinegar enough time to break the dirt and grime down. The next morning, remove the bag and wipe the showerhead clean.
Another area of the bathroom that you should frequently deep clean is the toilet. Although there are many different toilet cleaners on the market, using baking soda to give your toilet a deep clean is still the most effective way to do it. Simply pour a cup of baking soda into the toilet bowl and let sit for about five minutes. When the time is up, get a toilet brush and brush thoroughly. When you’re done, flush to rinse.
If your rental home’s bathroom has tile, it will be necessary to deep clean the grout avoid bacterial growth. Apply bleach and use a grout brush for cleaning. They are the best tools for lightening discolored grout lines. They also work well to kill anything trying to grow between your tiles. To really keep grout watertight, it’s suggested that you reseal it every six months or so to keep moisture and bacteria out. Bleach can also be used to address any mold growing in windowsills or other areas. What you need to do is mix one part bleach to two parts water and scrub any mold spots with a sponge.
Deep cleaning a bathroom doesn’t need to take up a lot of time and effort, but you need to remember to do it on a regular basis. Once you have the knowledge of how to deep clean a bathroom the way the pros do it, it’s now easier for you to stay on top of this important maintenance task.
